Halve finale van LIOF Yeah!

Afgelopen vrijdag was de uitzending van LIOF Yeah op L1 waarbij de Bee Collective zich presenteerde.

De pitch tijdens de halve finale van LIOF Yeah! heeft ons duidelijk gemaakt dat het niet gemakkelijk is anderen er van te overtuigen dat een winstmodel niet altijd letterlijk hoeft te betekenen dat een ondernemer persoonlijk geld genereert op zijn bankrekening.
Voor de Bee Collective kan winst ook zijn dat je door middel van een initiatief een positief impuls geeft aan de gemeenschap en in dit geval ook de bij.
De sky-hive is geen installatie die een ondernemer of gemeente inzet om financiële winst mee te bereiken, maar geeft een positief impuls aan een onderneming of gemeenschap die op de lange termijn zeker zichtbaar zal zijn in het rendement.

Het is natuurlijk jammer dat het ons niet gelukt is de jury er van te overtuigen dat de Sky-hive vanuit Limburg de skylines van Europa zal veroveren, maar dat betekend niet dat wij er minder in zijn geloven!
Het tegendeel, sinds de opnames zijn we hard aan de slag gegaan met de enginering van de sky-hive. Mede mogelijk gemaakt door een kennischeque van Syntens wordt er nu gekeken, of het mogelijk is het takelsysteem door middel van zonne-energie aan te sturen, onderzoeken we met een Engelse collega of we de kasten kunnen voorzien van een zwerm alarm en zal de sky-hive voorzien worden van het CE keurmerk.

In het voorjaar van 2013 zullen de eerste professionele sky-hives geplaatst worden. Als u met u onderneming of gemeente ook geïnteresseerd bent kunt u zich via de Bee Collective mail (beecome@beecollective.eu) opgeven en zullen we u uitgebreidere informatie toe zenden.

Hailing all the way from the Netherlands is a cooperation of beekeepers and designers searching for new ways to stimulate and enable beekeeping in a contemporary living environment. This collective, hailing from the Netherlands works for a broader understanding of the function and functioning of bees, brings together next generation beekeepers in a network and invites people to become a beekeeper. One of their products, the Sky Hive, enables beekeeping legally in urban, public spaces throughout Europe.

Bee Collective, Bee The Next

Aftenposten, one of the mayor newspapers in Norway, placed an article on two architects who integrate beekeeping into their urban planning. Specifically by placing bee hives in the new public park along the Aker River in Oslo. The park lays central in an old industrial area in the process of turning into the new ‘place to be’ in the norwegian capital. In this urban environment, with a history of immigrants and poverty the architects started a project enabling ex-addicts and people struggling with a longterm unemployment to learn how to keep bees and using this knowledge to create a source of income while working on a better environment. The first bees should be placed by spring 2013.

Keen on getting the European Network of urban beekeepers growing, two of the members of the Bee collective visited Arild and Joakim in their new office in Oslo. The Bee collective hopes to welcome them in Maastricht in 2013 to share our experiences!
