We’re invited to the Expo Milano 2015 to present the Sky Hive Solar! The Sky Hive Solar makes it possible for anyone to keep bees in an urban surrounding as the bee hives are hoisted by solar energy. The new product has been engineered with financial help of Syntens, is certified to be placed in Europe and has better safety elements. The world exhibit in Italy has the theme Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.
The Sky Hive Solar will already be presented as a model at the Milano Design Week GREEN ISLAND program in the Giardino Terraggio from april 8 until 13. Will we see you there?

The relocated bee pavilion from the Floriade in Venlo will be a permanent home for several bee colonies in the gardens of Kasteel Vaeshartelt near Maastricht (NL). There the bees will help to pollinate the many local en traditional fruit trees en berries, that Vaeshartelt produces for conscious consumers.
The pavilion will feature a special working space, where school classes can safely follow the work of experienced beekeepers. On the ground floor an exhibition explains the importance of bees in the process of food production.

The bee pavilion will open 1. september 2013

lezing boston
Last Saturday in behave of the bee collective, I presented at the festooning event at the 808 gallery of Boston University.
Festooning is a lacework of bees hanging together, leg-to-leg, between the frames of comb. The structure symbolizes how bees are part of a collective in which every individual takes part in the greater good. I good title for the event, because from the moment I entered, I felt a strong sense of solidarity between people with the same goal: helping bees by keeping them.
Besides my lecture about the projects of the bee collective, especially the sky-hive, 5 others presented their way of urban beekeeping.
