What can you expect from us?
After a presentation on the goals and activities of the Bee Collective, we will tell you about our experience with keeping bees in a group at our Sky Hive.

The Sky Hive is a pole with two beehives on top of it, making bees visible in the Maastricht Frontenpark since 2013.

The Bee Collective wants to make beekeeping as accesible as possible. To get involved you don’t need any pre-knowledge because we work on a “learning by doing” basis. The Bee Collective beekeepers share the responsibility of taking care of the bees. We also produce honey together.

There are no strings attached to this meeting. Let yourself be surprised and see you soon!

The latest Sky Hive has been placed in Nuth, the Netherland. A community of villagers has gathered to take care of the bees in the heart of the small town.
The Sky Hive will be opened on the 7th of September 2017, at 15.00h.

We will be part of the upcoming exhibition “Food revolution 5.0” at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, presenting our Sky Hive. The museum made it possible for us to make a short movie about the Sky Hive, which we made in collaboration with Ben Graaf of Wedovoodoo, and will be shown during the exhibition.

What we learned from our Sky Hive we made beneficial for other city animals: Bats!

De lente komt er weer aan, en daarmee ook het bijenseizoen! We hebben plek voor nieuwe imkers om komend seizoen in het Frontenpark Maastricht te imkeren, en je kunt je nu inschrijven!

Waarom houden wij bijen in de stad? In de stad is er een gevarieerder aanbod aan bloemen dan op het platteland. Bovendien worden er in de stad nauwelijks pesticiden gebruikt en de honing van onze bijen is schoon (vrij van milieuverontreiniging) en van goede kwaliteit.

Om mee te doen hoef je geen voorkennis te hebben want je leert imkeren al doende. Wij werken met een ervaren imker. De bijeenkomsten vinden altijd in de vroege avond plaats en zijn super gezellig. Afhankelijk van de cyclus van de bijen en het weer, wordt er per bijeenkomst de volgende bijeenkomst gepland.

Het voordeel van het bijenhouden in een groep is dat je tijdens het bijenseizoen (april → september) ook nog op vakantie kunt gaan want anderen nemen dan de zorg van de bijen over.

Wij zoeken ook mensen die het leuk vinden om honing te verkopen en/of te promoten. Wij staan altijd open voor nieuwe ideeën.

Meld je dan bij voorkeur vóór 5 maart 2016 aan via beecome@beecollective.eu We kunnen je dan uitnodigen voor een informatiebijeenkomst die in de eerste helft van maart gaat plaatsvinden.  Als je dan besluit mee te doen, dan vragen wij een bijdrage van € 45,- per jaar.

Vanaf dit jaar is er Frontenpark Honey! Rechtstreeks van onze Sky Hive Solar bijen in het lage Frontenpark.

We presented our Sky Hive Solar during the Milano Design Week, from 14-19th of april. Thank you for visiting! The presentation took place at the Ventura Lambrate district. Ventura Lambrate 2015 highlights the theme of Unite and Connect, one of Ventura Lambrate’s core values. This edition also sets the stage for crossovers between design and fields of science and social progress, material research and pioneering design–fashion/couture hybrids.
